Precision Manufacturing training starts June 20—and it may be free

SOUTH COUNTY—SLO  Partners, a leading provider of career upskilling and modern apprenticeship programs in California, announced details of its upcoming Precision Manufacturing Bootcamp. The training program starts June 20th and is eight weeks long. Course fees are $500. The cities of Arroyo Grande and Grover Beach, however, are offering $500 scholarships to people who live or work in their cities.
Demand for skilled workers is high for manufacturing companies located on the Central Coast. Businesses based here have experienced growth over the last few years and are now looking to expand their workforce. In order to plug the hiring gap, SLO Partners is running another Precision Manufacturing bootcamp this summer to provide students with the skills needed for jobs currently in demand.
The Central Coast has become a hot-spot for manufacturing companies as the region has proved advantageous for companies based here. “Being located between two metro areas is beneficial when it comes to supply chain and workforce needs,” said Nicole Moore, Interim CEO of South County Chambers of Commerce. “Having clients in close proximity is also an advantage. A lot of people move here for the quality of life and once their businesses are established they want to stay.”
“It’s a career that’s interesting for people who want to make something with their hands and be on the cutting-edge of technology,” continued Moore. “There aren’t a lot of barriers to entry which makes it accessible to people who want to make a career transition into the space. You don’t necessarily have to have a four-year degree but you can make a good wage.”
People who are interested in taking the bootcamp should contact the Chamber at
