Grover Beach to Get High Speed 2-Gigabit Internet Service for the First Time
Astound Broadband’s fiber-rich network brings community ultra-high-speed connectivity
GROVER BEACH—Astound Broadband Powered by Wave announced that it plans to provide more than 5,000 homes in Grover Beach with access to symmetrical 2-gigabit speed Internet for the first time, supported by its rapidly expanding fiber network in the area. Beginning with areas of Grover Beach this month, Astound's 2-gigabit internet tier and other offerings will soon be available to both consumers and small businesses throughout the community, bringing the fastest connectivity speeds the area has seen from any provider to-date.
The company has already launched phase 1 of an activation program for 2-gigbabit connectivity in Grover Beach, involving approximately 2,000 homes, with prices starting at approximately $65 monthly for 2-gigabit service and $25 monthly for 100-megabit (100 Mbps) service. The company plans a second phase to bring an additional 3,000 local homes online, beginning January. Both phases are planned to be complete by spring of 2023, bringing symmetrical 2-gigabit upload and download speeds to the area. With a proven track record of successfully bringing high-speed internet connectivity to key regions of coastal California, Oregon, and Washington, Astound Broadband Powered by Wave is adding new fiber optic cable to its network in San Luis Obispo County, through a combination of above- and below-ground construction, to accommodate the new services.
“Symmetrical 2-gigabit fiber connectivity is new to Grover Beach, and we have been encouraged by local leaders who share our belief that all communities deserve access to the benefits that high-speed internet access delivers,” said Jared Sonne, senior vice president and general manager, Astound Broadband Powered by Wave. “At a time when more people have hybrid working arrangements or are even working exclusively from home, enhanced connectivity is more important than ever, especially when factoring multiple devices and users.”
“Providing Grover Beach residents and businesses easy and reliable access to 2-gigabit connectivity has been a priority of ours and we are grateful to Astound for investing in the local infrastructure needed to make this happen,” said Kathy McCorry, CEO, South County Chambers of Commerce. “This is an exceptional place to both live and work, and now our community stands to benefit from levels of high-speed connectivity that have usually been the exclusive domain of much larger cities.”
Astound will provide its ultra-high-speed internet offerings to small businesses with ever-increasing needs for more bandwidth, to support cloud-based applications, off-site data storage, video conferencing, and providing WiFi for their customers and employees.
