May 3    Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles
Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles®, the first all female mariachi in the United States is that they have paved the way for other female mariachi groups to exist at the professional level. Reyna, which was formed in 1994, has truly broken the stereotypes surrounding Mariachi music. In a musical landscape of songs that are often written by men, and for men — Reyna has created their own history. Under the leadership of ten-time Grammy nominee, Maestro Jose Hernandez, Reyna was the first female Mariachi to break out of local level recognition to international stardom with original compositions, arrangements and interpretations of mariachi classics.

May 4    Clark Center - Artist Reception - Nicolette Mathieson
An artist since 4, Nicolette feels both peace and excitement in creating each new painting. Each original is a miracle as she is painting while experiencing constant nerve pain from an auto accident with large truck in 2006 who ran his stop sign, and also breaking her right arm and hurting her fingers in 2020. Known for her perseverance, and fighting the pain, she decided to start 24 x 36 mixed media abstracts with texture in 2023: Abstract Expressionism. Painting is therapy for her as she enjoys "getting into the zone". This gives her moments of distraction from the pain while listening to peaceful, uplifting K-Love music. Painting makes Nicolette very happy. Many viewers have told her these textured abstracta are Happy Art and often ask, "Can I touch it?" She loves that! She has her large abstracts on canvas made into prints and unique art Tshirts & art notecards using sections of original. Aquamedia art also available. Living on the Central Coast for over 42 years, "I love to be creative!" Thank you for appreciating my artwork! Enjoy!

May 18    Never a Dull Moment A Tribute to Rod Stewart
James Elliott Entertainment Presents Never a Dull Moment A Tribute to Rod Stewart Formed in 2017, this six-piece rock band burst onto the music tribute scene with their unique blend of raw energy, and genuine representation of Rod Stewart's concert performance. The band is composed of six talented musicians, each with a long history as a professional player with excellent resumes. At the helm is lead vocalist and frontman, Stewart Sher. With a powerful voice that caputures all the subtle nuance of Rod Stewart himself, he commands the stage with his dynamic presence and magnetic personality. On guitar, we have the technically skilled and inventive playing of Dean and Reed, who both bring their own unique styles to the band's sound. On bass, we have the thumping grooves of Marvin, whose driving rhythms and melodic sensibilities hold down the low end of the band's sound. On drums, we have the explosive energy and precision of Jeff, who keeps the band tight and locked in with his in the pocket beats. Together, this six-piece rock band replicates all the hits that bring the concert experience to life. From Rod's early years with Jeff Beck and the Faces through his long solo career.

May 1    Bike Month

Bike Month 2015

Bike Month is the largest community organized event in San Luis Obispo County. The goal of Bike Month is to get as many people as possible riding bikes. So grab your friends, family and co-workers and compete in the iRide Community Bike Challenge online or attend one of the many volunteer hosted events happening countywide throughout May!

Want to host your own Bike Month event in 2015 Planning for Bike Month starts now! Last year, over ten thousand people attended Bike Month events across SLO County that were hosted by businesses, organizations and community leaders in support of getting on two wheels.

Show your support this year! Rideshare provides marketing and mini-grant funds to assist communities, schools and local businesses hosting Bike Month events.

TO HOST A BIKE MONTH EVENT:

1. Fill out the Bike Month Event Submission form online before March 1, 2015 to have your event advertised in local publications. (Note that you can submit your event after March 1 to appear in the online calendar, but it will not appear in printed calendars.) *** LET’S DO THIS! ***

2. Optional: apply for reimbursable mini-grants funds from $100-$500 to help offset the costs of hosting your event. The deadline to apply for a mini-grant is March 1, 2015. *** APPLY HERE ***

3. Watch your inbox! We’ll confirm your event and share important information using the email address you provide when you submit your event. If you have questions in the meantime, you can email them to mjenkins@rideshare.org.
