Grover Beach Goodwill Grand Reopening
Wrapping up a facilities improvement plan that began in 2017 with the opening of its new 95,000-square-foot headquarters in Salinas, Goodwill Central Coast has completed a full renovation of its Grover Beach store.
With current renovations underway at the Monterey and Alisal locations, GCC has now updated all 16 of its stores and outlets across Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo counties.
“It’s all about creating a welcoming, convenient environment for the community, as well as safer, more comfortable workplaces for our valued associates,” said Alan Martinson, vice president of retail. “We are building a foundation to benefit the community for years to come.”
The Grover Beach store at 1628 Grand Ave., will hold a grand reopening celebration and ribbon-cutting at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 13, just before its 9 a.m. opening. Despite the full-scale renovation that includes new floors, lights, retail displays, paint, and new equipment, the 13-employee store was closed for just four days. The renovation has expanded the store’s footprint to just over 7,000 square feet to better accommodate daily deliveries of goods.
On Jan. 12, the day before the grand reopening, the store will close early (at 4 p.m.) to prepare for the next day’s event which will include giveaways, appetizers, and specially curated retail treasures (updates on the festivities can be found at www.ccgoodwill.org).
The stores in Monterey and Alisal have never been renovated, and those grand openings will take place in early 2023.
“It’s all the donations that make this happen,” Martinson said. “These renovations create a better use of space, a better shopping experience, and a better work environment. All of that adds up to more jobs that we can provide in our communities.”
